Previously limited to the coast, the advance of salt water reached archipelagos downstream, salting the A\u00e7a\u00ed fruits and forcing the city of Macap\u00e1 to declare a state of emergency in the region.<\/p>\n<p>The advance of the ocean also threatens the Amazombai project, a cooperative created by producers in the region as a way of guaranteeing sustainable management and preservation of the forest. It is the country&#8217;s first organization to have a certification of ecosystem services for the conservation of forest carbon stocks and species diversity.<\/p>\n<p>The mouth of the Amazon river is one of the most vulnerable regions to climate change in the country, as it is in the area of \u200b\u200binfluence of both the ocean and the continent.
