In 2021, the company consumed 1 million kg of chestnut kernels, which is equivalent to 4.5 million kg of fresh chestnuts. The volume resulted in revenue of R$ 18 million for small producers in the Amazon region.<\/p>\n
Oakberry, a chain of a\u00e7a\u00ed sales franchises, has 520 stores in 24 countries and also believes in strengthening the sustainable economy in the Amazon rainforest. According to founder and CEO Georgios Frangulis, \u201cCooperatives that work with a\u00e7a\u00ed are more structured than those of other chains. Riverside people have understood that what they have in the forest is more valuable than any other commodity. What they need is economic support to make the economy spin, since they are very isolated.\u201d<\/p>\n
Every year, Oakberry consumes around 5 thousand tons of a\u00e7a\u00ed pulp and contracts, on average, 3 cooperatives from each producing region in Acre and Par\u00e1.
