National The Minister of the Environment, Ricardo Salles, resigned this afternoon to President Jair Bolsonaro. The act of resignation was published in an extra edition of the Official Gazette (DOU). The current Secretary for Amazon and Environmental Services in the portfolio, Joaquim Álvaro Pereira Leite, was appointed in his place.
Target of two investigations in the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Salles was under pressure and claimed family reasons for leaving office, despite the support of the Palace.
