The National Confederation of Industry (CNI) and IndustriALL-Brasil (which brings together unions of industry workers) ask the government to suspend the proposal made to Mercosur to reduce tariffs charged by the bloc in trade with other nations and to make negotiations more flexible agreements with third countries.
In a note, released this Thursday, 24, the entities ask that, at the next meeting of Mercosur ministers, scheduled for the beginning of July, the representatives of Brazil withdraw a proposal already presented on these topics and propose a more in-depth assessment of the Common External Tariff (TEC) and the policy of negotiating agreements with countries outside Mercosur – “opening a dialogue table with Brazilian union and business entities”.
