Electric crisis was caused by climate change, Brazilian government study warns

An internal document from the Ministry of Mines and Energy states that the current water crisis, which puts at risk meeting the national demand for electricity, is not something temporary, but is part of a trend that is expected to worsen in the coming decades due to climate change.

Two main factors influence the long-term watershed flow and, therefore, the amount of water available for electricity generation, according to the technical note: deforestation and climate change.
