Delay in ratifying the free trade agreement signed two years ago with the bloc leaves the way open for the Asian giant to continue strengthening in a vital region in the food sector.

Europe has less and less weight in Mercosur: the bloc made up of Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay is now looking towards China. While the ratification of the free trade agreement signed in 2019 still needs the visa of some members of the European Union (France, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium and Ireland), the South American Cone multiplies its trade in raw materials with the Asian giant.
