The World Bioeconomy Forum, held in Belém (State of Pará, in Brazil), discussed sustainable development and outlines strategies to encourage the bioeconomy in Brazil. Held for the first time outside Finland, the event is an opportunity to bring Brazil to the leading role in environmental debates.

In addition, Brazilian businessmen and politicians plan to advance the debate on regulating the carbon market and combating deforestation and illegal mining in the Amazon. It is estimated that the decarbonization of the Brazilian economy and public policies aiming sustainability could add up to R$ 2.8 trillion (US$ 503 billion) to GDP by 2030 and generate millions of jobs.
