According to a new report by Repórter Brasil, which investigated the impacts associated with beef, coffee, soy and oranges used by McDonald’s in its restaurants, part of the ingredients of the fast food chain is produced on rural properties accused of illegal deforestation and forced labor.
The survey points out that, in addition to violations of labor rights, McDonald’s Brazilian suppliers of meat and soy made use of land grabbing of public lands, fraud in certificates of origin and illegal deforestation for the production of ingredients.
