Commitments to net zero carbon emissions made by the top 25 companies hold little promise. According to analysis by the New Climate Institute and Carbon Market Watch, promises are vague and ambiguous.

The list of companies observed includes Brazilian companies JBS and Vale and technology and retail giants such as Google, Apple and Walmart, which together generated revenues of US$ 3.2 trillion and corresponded to 5% of CO2 emissions in 2020.

In the analysis of the commitments, it was observed that the emission reduction would be, on average, only 20% and that the organizations are not transparent about how they will reduce the production of greenhouse gasses.
