The return of economic protectionism, stimulated by the pandemic and the climate crisis, could put at risk around US$ 50 billion in exports of Brazilian agricultural products, such as beef, soy, soy bran and coffee. These products represent half of agribusiness exports in the country.
The bill presented by the European Union, which proposes to boycott the importation of goods extracted from deforested areas, either legally or illegally, will probably be decisive for Brazilian exports.
