International UN report warns that there is no vaccine against drought and that most of the world will live with water stress in the coming years.
“Droughts have profound, widespread, and underestimated impacts on societies, ecosystems, and economies. They incur costs that are borne disproportionately by the most vulnerable people. The extensive impacts of drought are consistently underreported, although they affect large areas, spread across systems and scales and linger over time, affecting millions of people and contributing to food insecurity, poverty, and inequality,” says the UN report.
