A new report by the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) to be presented next Monday will dismantle the denial thesis of more conservative wings and even members of Jair Bolsonaro’s government. The document, in the assessment of negotiators, will put even greater pressure on Brazil to present guarantees that it has a convincing strategy to curb deforestation.
One of the main messages of the document in its original version refers to the causes of this climate transformation. Scientists clearly state that it is “very likely” that human activities in emitting CO2 have been the “main drivers” of warming since 1979 and “extremely likely” that human action is the cause of the depletion of the ozone layer.
More than a decade ago, the IPCC found that climate change was already a reality. Now, they point out that this scenario is closely related to human activity and that it is not a cycle of the planet.
