The governor of the State of Pará, Helder Barbalho, signed on October 18th a document that creates the State Strategy for Bioeconomy. The document was signed at the opening of the World Bioeconomy Forum and aims to encourage the sustainable development of the cities that deforest the most.

According to BNDES estimates, the Brazilian bioeconomy moves around R$1,77 trillion (approximately US$ 318 billion) per year. In addition, Pará will be contemplated by the first investment in agroforestry systems of the Amazon’s sustainable development fund.
