Greening trade agreements: A roadmap to narrow the expectations gap


With the “new generation” trade agreements negotiated by the EU and the implementation of the Green New Deal, the study seeks to reconcile the ambition of the EU’s green bilateral free trade agreements and the realism of trade negotiations. The main argument is that between seemingly conflicting views between “idealistic greens” and “realistic negotiators”, a summit line exists, which could bring EU trade policy closer together and support its environmental commitments, within the modus operandi of the EU FTAs.
