Global Land Outlook

According to a report published by the United Nations (UN), with the advance of intensive land use, an area the size of South America will be in a process of persistent degradation. Deterioration, mainly driven by the food sector, is responsible for 80% of deforestation and 70% of the world’s freshwater use. Researchers reinforce the defense of land rights of indigenous peoples as a way of protecting the climate and biodiversity and reversing this scenario.
