Brazilian wood exports have skyrocketed in the last ten years and although foreign sales in themselves do not require proof of good management practices, the area of ​​certified forests in the country increased by 40% in the period.

Analysts say the advance in certification reflects greater awareness among buyers and also an effort by producers to deal with the country’s negative image abroad. Much of the certified wood goes abroad.
