The Proposed European Regulation Against Deforestation: Implications for Brazil


The study analyzes the effects of the proposed regulation on the import, circulation in the domestic market and exports of the European Union of products potentially associated with deforestation and forest degradation, published on November 17th, 2021. According to researchers, the approval of the this measure brings Brazil’s economic and environmental agenda closer, especially in certain agribusiness sectors, and could even accelerate the process of loss of relevance of Brazilian commodities in the EU.
