The report commissioned by the French government comments on the potential provisions and effects of the Mercosur-EU Agreement from the perspective of sustainable development.
Analyzes of the political and geopolitical context, the legal aspects, the impacts on agriculture, biodiversity, industry and services, the sanitary, phytosanitary and climate risks and the potential economic evaluation with the Agreement are carried out. Also, some observations brought by the report “Sustainability Impact Assessment” (SIA), produced by LSE, are questioned in the study. Unlike SIA, the French study predicts an increase in deforestation with the ratification of the Agreement.
